School uniform ensures easy identification of students belonging to our school and reduces the amount of peer pressure student’s face by wearing standard clothing items.
Requirement to Wear Uniform
Students are required to wear school uniform every day. Failure to follow the school policy will result in the student being excluded from out of school activities (this is a safety issue) and/or spending part of their play time engaged in activities of general benefit to the school. School uniform should be clean and of appropriate standard (not torn or badly faded or ill fitting).
Yarra Primary School is also a Sunsmart School which means that all children must wear a sun smart hat which covers the face and neck areas for sport, physical education, excursions and playtimes during terms 1 and 4. Polo shirts with collars are also recommended for summer terms.
Students not wearing uniform on any day will be required to provide an explanatory note from their parents/carers. If a note is not provided, a letter informing the parents/carers of the school's compulsory uniform policy will be sent home with the child. The parents/carers must acknowledge receipt of this letter. If there is no acknowledgement, a letter will be sent by post.
Consistent refusal to wear uniform will be discussed with the child's parents/carers. If parents/carers have an objection to the uniform or are in financial difficulty, they should approach the School Principal.
